** ALL APPEARANCES ARE VIRTUAL UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE **  (See details at bottom of page.)

Is your organization or educational institution looking for a unique and exciting speaker who will engage, educate, and inspire your audience? Noted for her extensive knowledge and contagious enthusiasm, penguin expert, TED speaker, and award-winning author Dyan deNapoli (AKA The Penguin Lady), has been capturing the imagination of audiences worldwide for more than two decades. Custom presentations can also be designed for your organization.

PENGUIN BIOLOGY, BEHAVIOR, AND CONSERVATION

“We have lost up to 90 percent of most penguin populations over the last 50 years. Essentially, penguins are the canaries in the coal mine for ocean health.” – Dyan deNapoli, as quoted in The Dodo

Penguin Rescue!

Dyan’s most highly requested presentation – learn about the remarkable rescue of 40,000 penguins following the Treasure oil spill in South Africa from someone who was actually there! Dyan served as a rehabilitation supervisor during this historic event, which still stands as the largest and most successful animal rescue ever undertaken. This inspiring and informative talk not only covers this groundbreaking conservation effort – it highlights the importance of teamwork, collaboration, leadership, and community service. This presentation is based on Dyan’s TED talk, The Great Penguin Rescue, which has been viewed nearly 500,000 times on TED.com.

Antarctic Journeys

Only a small number of people know what’s it like to step foot on the Earth’s coldest, driest and windiest continent – and Dyan is one of them! In this riveting multi-media talk, Dyan shares her adventures and what she’s learned about the penguins of Antarctica during her multiple trips to ‘The Great White Continent’. Through fascinating stories, and stunning photos and videos, she brings this remote and mysterious continent – and the four penguin species that call it home – to life!

Penguins: Just the Facts, Ma’am

This engaging talk takes a deep dive into the fascinating facets of penguin biology and behavior, while also doing some serious myth busting about these intriguing seabirds. Learn little-known details about penguin anatomy, courtship and breeding, communication, life cycles, and much more. You’ll never look at penguins in the same way again…

Global Warming: A Problem for Penguins

Of the 19 penguin species living on Earth today, 14 are currently listed as Vulnerable, Near-Threatened, or Endangered. Although the greatest threat to their survival is climate change, there is still hope! In this popular and highly-relevant presentation, Dyan explores the various effects of global warming on penguin populations, and discusses what each of us can do to help.

Penguins in Peril: A Conservation Crisis

Even though popular culture depicts penguins as adorable birds with seemingly endless populations, their numbers are actually crashing at an alarming rate. In this enlightening presentation, Dyan explains the various threats to penguin populations, and shares action steps that each of us can take to make a difference for penguins and our oceans.

INSPIRATIONAL AND MOTIVATIONAL TALKS

“Your thoughts are extremely powerful – and they can either paralyze you or motivate you. So choose your thoughts very, very carefully!” – Dyan deNapoli

Who Inspires You? Why Heroes, Role Models, and Mentors Matter

In this presentation, Dyan shares the importance of seeking out the right heroes, role models, and mentors in life. Until her 30’s, the career she’d dreamed of since the age of 5 seemed totally out of reach. But eventually, she found mentors and role models who inspired her to pursue her goals, and who helped her achieve her wildest dreams. Plus even more than she’d ever dreamed of. With the right people inspiring and supporting your development, you too can achieve FAR more than you probably believe is even possible! (This talk is loosely based on Dyan’s popular TEDx Youth talk that was given at the Drew Middle School in Fredericksburg, VA.)

It’s Never Too Late: Bring Your Dreams to Life – at Any Age!

What dreams – personal and/or professional – have you been secretly harboring? What’s holding you back from pursuing those dreams? Do they seem too elusive or unrealistic? Or are you afraid it’s just too late to start? Dyan truly believes you’re never too old to pursue your dreams! She’ll share the story of how she finally overcame crippling self-doubt, and embarked on an entirely new career path in her 30’s that has led to many unexpected and exciting adventures, including becoming a penguin biologist at 36, a business owner and professional speaker at 44, an award-winning author at 49, a TED speaker at 50, and a lecturer in Antarctica for Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic at 55. She’ll also share stories of other remarkable late bloomers (some in their 80’s, 90’s and even 100’s), all of whom will inspire you to step outside of YOUR comfort zone and finally DO the things you’ve always dreamed of doing!!

How To Give a TED Talk (or Any Kick-a** Talk)

A veteran of four TEDx talks – the first of which was selected for the main TED website – and the writer and narrator of a popular educational video about penguin conservation for TED-Ed, Dyan is often asked for advice on how to give a TED or TED-like talk. Even if you don’t aspire to the TED stage, learning how to craft and tell a compelling and unforgettable story can help you in business, in school, and in life. This informative and insightful presentation from a TEDx insider will help you understand the secrets of getting onto the TED or TEDx stage, and will teach you how to give killer talks no matter where you are speaking. Your audiences (large and small) will thank you!
